Harvested Summer's End
Harvested Summer's End
Painted en plein air on the last days of September this view on the edge of the village of Terrington shows a harvested field just before it will be ploughed. The colours at this time of year are making their their subtle transition into Autumn hues and you can begin to feel the year advancing as the sun heads south. I worked swiftly as I wasn't sure how long the sunshine would last and as a result, helped produce a spontaneous work. Emerging through the cut ploughed lines of wheat was a new growth of grass which caught the afternoon light resulting in a lovely mix of greens and ochres which are also mirrored in the distant hills.
