Yorkshire Landscape Paintings

My paintings are inspired by the landscapes of North Yorkshire and the surrounding countryside. Working primarily outdoors, I respond to the changing light, weather and structure of the land as it shifts through the seasons.

Fields, tracks, hedgerows and trees form the recurring language of the work — familiar elements of the Yorkshire landscape observed directly and translated into oil paint through colour, brushwork and composition.

Although rooted in North Yorkshire, the paintings also reflect a wider response to the British landscape and the experience of being out in the land itself.
