Contemporary Landscape Oil Paintings

My original landscape oil paintings explore the changing light, colour and atmosphere of the British countryside. Working largely outdoors, I use expressive brushwork, layers of colour and richly textured paint to capture something of the experience of being in the landscape.

Each painting is an individual response to a particular place and moment. Rather than recording every detail, I'm interested in the relationships between colour, shape and light, allowing the character of the paint itself to become part of the subject.

All paintings are supplied framed in my signature scoop frame with slip, as shown in the accompanying images for each work. This profile and finish is chosen to complement the palette and character of the painting without overpowering it -ready to hang and live well in a considered interior.
