Early Spring, West Ness
Early Spring, West Ness

Based on a view near West Ness in North Yorkshire, this studio painting revisits a landscape I had previously painted outdoors in early spring.
The bare, twisting trees frame a winding track leading towards the distant hills, while the surrounding fields begin to show the first signs of the changing season.
For this interpretation, I wanted to explore a stronger use of colour, pushing the fresh greens, warm ochres and rich earthy reds beyond their natural tones. The result is a more expressive response to the landscape, capturing the energy and colour of early spring.
