Painted on location in early spring, this view sits at the end of a hedge line, where an ivy-clad tree frames the field beyond. The weight of the trunk and its canopy create a natural opening, holding the darker tones of the foreground against the brighter land beyond.
It’s a moment of transition, where the first fresh greens are beginning to show, but much of the landscape remains subdued, balanced between the close of winter and the emergence of spring.
