I often revisit favourite locations throughout the seasons, finding that some scenes shine best in winter, while others are at their peak in spring or summer. This painting captures a view towards 'Scarlet Wood' near Stonegrave. It was a beautiful July day in North Yorkshire, with billowing clouds drifting across the sky, wheat fields ripening, and cow parsley surrounding an open gate.
