January Fields

Painted en plein air on a cold January morning, this piece captures the subtle colours and clarity of winter light. I was drawn to the green of the ploughed field as it caught the sun, the golden edges of bare branches, and the powder-blue sky above.

It reflects my interest in quieter, familiar corners of the landscape, places that can suddenly come alive through a shift in season, weather or light. The brushwork is expressive and gestural, bringing energy and movement to the stillness of the winter scene.
