Spring Beckons, Ganthorpe captures the landscape in that early April moment when winter has loosened its hold and the first clear signs of spring begin to emerge. Fresh green fields, soft pinks and ochres in the trees, and a shifting sky all suggest a season in transition.
I was drawn to the way the field rises towards the group of trees, with the track marks and hedgerow leading the eye into the composition. Painted with expressive, textured brushwork, the scene has a sense of movement and renewal, while still retaining the coolness and structure of early spring.
